Rex Martin is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Kansas and Honorary Professor at Cardiff University. He was, for six years, Professor of Political Theory and Government in the University of Wales Swansea. Martin has been active in the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) and was a member of the IVR Executive Committee from 1991-2003 (and Vice President, 1995-2003). His fields of major interest are political and legal philosophy (in particular rights, economic justice), history of political thought, and philosophy of history. Martin’s books on rights include Rawls and Rights (in paperback 1986), A System of Rights (in paperback 1997), and Rawls's Law of Peoples: A Realistic Utopia? (co-edited, with David Reidy, 2006).
